MuscUTS holds a number of events each year. The two largest events would have to be our end of semester concerts, which feature some of our groups in a public performance.
MuscUTS groups also put on a number of smaller performances, often for private functions, but not exclusively - such as our Music Cafe and our Christmas sings.
In addition to our own functions, members of the choir have the opportunity to attend the annual Intervarsity Choral Festivals (IVCF).
In this section you will find information on upcoming performances and festivals, future concert dates, reviews of recent events, and on some social events.
These festivals, known as IVCFs for short, are annual events. Each IVCF lasts for two weeks and three weekends and is held in a different Australian city each year. Choristers from university choirs across the country meet for intensive rehearsals and partying.
The festivals provide choristers with the opportunity to perform choral works with some of Australia's leading orchestras and soloists, not to mention world famous conductors. Part and parcel of this is the chance to sing in works beyond the means of most individual university choral and musical societies. As an example, the Sydney Intervarsity Choral Festival 1995 featured two perfromances of Orff's Carmina Burana in the Sydney Opera House, with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and under the direction of Sir Charles Mackerras.
The next festival to be held will be in Adelaide from 20th January - 5th February, 2006. The first concert of the festival will be on Saturday 28th January, and the second on the 4th February.
For more information about this IVCF, visit the 57th Australian Intervarsity Choral Festival website.
The 2008 IVCF will be held in Sydney! It is being organised by MuscUTS in coordination with the Sydney University Music Society (SUMS) and the Macquarie University Singers (MUS).
